Independent country artist SaraBeth's latest EP is fun introduction to her, featuring co-writes from country songwriters such as Glenn Mitchell. Despite being an independent release, the EP has great songwriting, crisp production, and is the perfect release for the summer.
Track by track review:
Album Rating: 8/10
- You Rock My Rodeo - The first track continues the recent female tradition of staking a claim in truck songs, similar to songs such as Kelsea Ballerini's Looking at Stars or Maddie & Tae's Girl in a Country Song. The chorus repeats a bit too much, but otherwise the song is a fun introduction to the EP. 7/10
- Runnin' Outta Lipstick - The next track is the first true introduction to SaraBeth as an artist and a person, where she talks about how she's a tomboy but also likes getting dressed up sometimes. The rhythm is super catchy, and the lyrics are well-written too. 9/10
- Do What You Say You're Gonna Do - This track is similar to tracks such as Kelsea Ballerini's Love Me Like You Mean It or Lauren Alaina's One of Those Boys. In it, SaraBeth lays down her very simple expectations for a future boyfriend in a catchy tune. There's a nice guitar solo in addition to the bridge, which is nice, because usually there are not both in non-ballads. It doesn't go on too long, and is another one of the fun songs. 8/10
- You Keep Me Smilin' - Similar to You Rock My Rodeo, the second-to-last track is another happy track about how love can make someone happy. The rhythm is also excellent, and it has especially crisp production. 9/10
- I'm Sick of It - The last track, which is also the lead single from the EP, is a drastic change from the rest of the songs on the EP. It shows just how hardened SaraBeth can get when double crossed. The rhymes flow naturally, and the track is full of emotion. 9/10
